LOCATION
CUSTOM BUILDING SYSTEMS INC.
These new employee offices for Custom Business Systems, Inc., are remodeled within an existing one floor building located near the company’s head office. The building is a convenient annex to the existing facilities, but presented challenging circumstances for an office retrofit. The program called for both shared and private work areas with sophisticated computer and technical support.
ORIENTATION
CBSI employees regularly meet in small groups to consult with one another, but also need to work individually on demanding technical tasks. The project overcomes the constraints of the existing structural module and limited exterior orientations to provide a significantly improved office organization and environment.
ORGANIZATION
The scheme integrates natural and artificial lighting within common areas to bring light to every employee. In one half of the building, three work rooms with generous skylights serve as common areas and natural light wells for the surrounding offices and meeting rooms. Similarly, a sky lit corridor in the other half of the building illuminates offices and conference rooms located along its edge.
